Developmental Disabilities
Developmental disabilities include mental retardation, autism, cerebral palsy, brain trauma or other neurological impairments. Some of these adults may also have physical disabilities or a dual diagnosis of mental retardation and mental illness. Developmental disabilities are manifested before the person attains age twenty-two (22) years and are likely to continue indefinitely. There is substantial functional limitation in three or more of the following areas of major life activity: self-care, receptive and expressive language, learning, mobility, self-direction, capacity for independent living and economic self-sufficiency.
