WHERE YOUR GIFT IS NEEDED

Food Subsidy for Seniors
We offer food service to seniors, who pay $2/meal.  Even at this price, some seniors cannot afford to participate.  Funding is needed to subsidize their hot meals.

Transportation for Seniors
 Most seniors in SCH apartments lack regular transportation.  Funding is needed to pay for fuel and van maintenance and bus passes.

First Apartment Furniture for Families
Families who are leaving temporary housing need basic furniture – beds, tables, chairs, desks, etc.  Funding is needed to offer vouchers so families can purchase essential furnishings.

Incentive Gifts for Residents
Residents in temporary housing participate in workshops that build their life skills, job skills and parenting skills.  We need funds for small gifts to reward their achievements.

Beauty and Personal Hygiene Products
There is a year-round need for unopened beauty and personal hygiene products such as soap, toothpaste, deodorant, shaving supplies and hair care products.

Youth Scholarships
Every year we offer college scholarships to graduating high school students who live in SCH homes and apartments.  Our Scholarship Committee reviews written applications and interviews applicants.  We need funds to award ten, $1,000 scholarships annually.

IT Support for Community Computer Labs
South County Housing builds computer labs for its residents, but lacks the money to pay for IT staff to support the labs and assist residents in using basic programs.  Funding is needed to pay for a contractor to provide these services to SCH residents.

Green Building
We would like to add healthy living amenities to every home and apartment we build.  These include water-saver shower heads and toilets, blown-in cellulose insulation made from recycled newspapers, formaldehyde-free cabinetry and  recycled-content carpets, to name a few.  We need donations for a Green Building fund.

HOW TO DONATE TO SOUTH COUNTY HOUSING

A direct cash contribution is simplest for many people however other methods may be more convenient and may enable you to make a larger gift.

Make a pledge payable in installments. A reminder can be sent to you from South County Housing at intervals convenient for you.

Many employers will match contributions of their employees, spouses or retirees. Check with your human resources manager to obtain a donation form.

If you have life insurance that is no longer needed, you can name South County Housing as sole or partial beneficiary.

In addition to providing for family or friends, a will can also be a means of making tax-deductible gifts to charitable organizations. A gift by a will is a bequest.

If you have already written a will and would like to add a provision for South County Housing without rewriting the entire document, you may be able to do so by means of a codicil.

Gifts of stock may reduce your capital gains tax.
